What is a Floor Standing Rack ?
A floor-standing rack is a structure installed in a server room for storing telecommunications equipment and technical devices. This element provides secure mounting of modems, stations, servers, and routers. As well as, it saves space, facilitates proper heat transfer, and enables easy access to equipment.
Features of a floor-standing rack:
- Standard width: 19 inches (482.6 mm).
- Height measured in units (U), where one unit equals 1.75 inches (44.45 mm). Greater height accommodates more equipment; for example, a 33U model can hold 33 objects of telecommunications equipment.
- Depth ranges from 600 mm to 1000 mm based on customer requirements.
Advantages include simple installation, high load-bearing capacity (1000 kg or more), multifunctionality, proper air circulation, rust resistance, and absence of static electricity.
Most floor-standing racks are double-framed for stability and increased weight capacity. They may feature additional components like doors, cooling systems, and power distributors.
Components of a floor-standing rack:
- Made of steel with a powder-polymer coating.
- Vertical slats attached to upper and lower bases, with holes for installation and ventilation.
- Optional components include temperature/humidity indicators, power distributors, wheels, and stabilizers.
- Retractable rails facilitate equipment operation and access.
- IPCOM's floor-standing racks come with quality guarantees and conformity certificates, meeting international standards for safety and quality.
